The P90X workout system is from BeachBody and billed as a complete 90-day home fitness system that is designed to get you in the best shape of your life. The system was originally designed by Tony Horton and released before many of the other BeachBody products, such as Insanity, Brazil Butt Lift and 10 Minute Trainer. In fact, the P90X system is the foundational fitness program for Beach Body.
There are three different kits that you can purchase from the company. The Basic kit comes with the 12 original workouts, nutrition plan and the fitness guide. The Deluxe kit includes those items plus a gym quality chin-up bar, recovery formula and resistance bands. And the Ultimate program includes everything from the Deluxe kit plus Tony Horton’s Power Stands and Chin-up Max.
The core idea behind the P90X program, and most other programs that get fast and consistent results, is changing the exercises frequently so the muscles do not develop the ability to acclimate to the exercises. When they acclimate you reach a plateau that you must work through to get more results. In other words, the results come at a much slower speed.
Instead, the P90X system has you doing something different every day. You’ll keep working hard through the workouts. And you’ll see incredible results, at home, without the monthly charges of working out at a gym.
Interestingly, the program isn’t just calisthenics or cardio workouts. Instead it draws from plyometrics, yoga, martial arts and interval training to achieve the results you want.
Although the program is difficult, it is also entertaining, not boring because it changes almost every day and it is a challenge. However, without challenging your body you won’t get the results you want. In building muscle and strength there is no easy button.
Going through all 90 days of the program will also build mental toughness that will also improve your ability to tackle other problems outside of your fitness program. When you force yourself to do new things you’ll find that doing more new things is not nearly as difficult as it once was.
Another part of the program for P90X is the nutrition plan. Combined with the exercises, this total workout plan that you can do in the privacy of your own home, will help you blast through the subcutaneous fat that is hiding your muscles, and help you to build a stronger, leaner and fitter body.
