Getting Ready To Lose Weight – Part 1

And the sad fact is that the yo-yo effect of losing weight and gaining it back is more detrimental to your health than just carrying 10 extra pounds.

So before you jump on the bandwagon for the newest diet fad or start cutting an insane number of calories from your daily diet, let’s get mentally ready to make permanent changes to some of your lifestyle choices which will eventually lead you to the weight loss you want to achieve.

The first mindset that you must face is that you gain weight over a long period of time and it will take a long period of time to take it off. There is no permanent fast weight loss, but there can be easy weight loss when you have patience with yourself and the changes you need to make in order to lose the weight.

CyclingAnd the second, and most important mindset, is that you are not going to go on a diet. The word ‘diet’ shouldn’t even be in your vocabulary. Instead, you are going to make permanent life changes that will lead to a healthy lifestyle and permanent weight loss. When you face the fact that you can’t reduce your calories for 2 weeks and then go back to eating the way that you used to and expect the weight to drop off, you’ll be well on your way to achieving the weight loss results you want.

In preparation for your new habits you must decide what type of eating style works best for you and the way you live. Any nutritional program must supply your body with the necessary nutrients to sustain your life, as well as reduce your glycemic load, reduce your insulin resistance, help your body to burn fat naturally for fuel and give you the energy you need to do all things you want to do each and every day.
