The Paleo Diet focuses your nutrition on eating foods that are as close to their natural state as possible while still using heat to cook and seasonings. And, while eating these foods can reduce your sweet tooth over time, sometimes you just want dessert after dinner!
Here are some recipes for desserts that will help to satisfy your appetite and not cause you to eat foods you have decided are outside what you’d like to eat.
1 1/2 cups of walnuts
1 cup of pitted dates
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup cocoa powder
Add the walnuts to a food processor and process until they are finely ground. Add the remainder of the ingredients, mix in the food processor until they are all combined. Add a couple of drops of water as the mixer is running to keep the ingredients together.
Form them into small round balls. Store in the fridge in an air tight container for up to a week – if they last that long!
2 ounces of pureed Sweet Potatoes
2 ounces of white chocolate
2 tbs dark rum
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 egg white
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. When the chocolate half melted add the sweet potatoes and rum. Stir until they are thoroughly combined. Remove them from the heat and stir until they are cooled.
Beat the cream to stiff peaks. Beat the egg whites separately until peaks form. Gently fold the cream into the sweet potato mixture.
Next, fold the sweet potato mixture with the egg whites, slowly.
Chill in glasses for several hours.
2 medium carrots, peeled
1/2 cup raw walnuts
1/4 cup raw cashews
3/4 cups of dates
1 tsp fresh ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
sesame seeds or shredded coconut
Cut the carrots for the food processor and process until finely ground.
Process the walnuts and cashews until finely ground. Take the nuts out and set aside. Add the dates to the machine and finely chop then add to the nut mixture. Add the carrots, grated ginger, and cinnamon to the machine with the remainder of the ingredient and process until a dough forms.
Roll the dough into small balls and roll in the seeds or coconuts. Refrigerate for a couple of hours. Save for up to 5 days in an air tight container.
