Tricks to Getting Fit

images-14Everyone wants to be in good health and in good shape physically.  The perfect body is the optimal goal.  Although we are all not born with the genes to achieve this goal, there are steps that you can take to get into the best physical shape and to stay in shape for your body type.

Here are some of the best tricks to getting fit and staying in shape:

Stop smoking:  One of the greatest things that you can do to help you live longer, be healthier and look younger.  We all know that smoking is bad for your health, but it also smells bad and causes discoloration of your teeth.  It can make you look older than you actually are because it breaks down the collagen in your skin, increasing the number of wrinkles and making the skin appear leathery.  There are all kinds of programs and even medication to help you quit smoking if you are unable to quit without help.

Portion control:  How often do we eat past the point that we are really full?  Some people might not do this, but there are quite a few people who do.  Eat only what you need to in order to feel just full.  Do not go beyond the point of fullness.  It does taste good, but we do not really need it all.  Besides, if you save part of it you get to enjoy it again at another meal.  Limit your portion of food and eat slowly.  Enjoy every bite and even take sips of water in between.  Use a smaller plate to improve your satisfaction that you are really getting enough food to eat.

Vitamins:  Take a multivitamin every day to ensure that you are getting adequate nutrition without any deficits.  A multivitamin will help to make up for any nutrition that you are lacking.

Regular health maintenance:  Make sure to see your doctor for regular health check-ups to keep a handle on any unforeseen medical issues.  Your physician might be able to spot something that is easily remedied before the possible condition becomes out of control.

Best time to eat:  Typically, the best time to eat is in the morning, or before we start our day.  Start your day with a nutritious breakfast, a moderate lunch, and a skimpy dinner.  This will help you to burn the maximum amount of calories before bedtime.  Try not to eat after 6 p.m., as the calories tend to stay with you.

Exercise:  Make sure that you are getting enough exercise in your week.  A 30-minute exercise session 3 to 4 times a week is optimal for good health.  If you do not feel that you have the time to do this, you must find ways to make the time.  Help yourself out by taking small steps to increasing your exercise, such as parking further out in the parking lot, using the stairs as opposed to the elevator, and playing with your kids in an outdoor activity, such as sports.

These are just some of the tricks to getting fit and healthy.  If this is all new to you then start out slowly with concentrating on just a few of the ideas above and then work your way up to the rest.  Getting fit and staying in shape can lead to a longer, more enriched life.
